Capt. Olav Castellino

Olav Castellino has sailed on various types of vessels engaged in ocean going and coastal trades. He has been involved with the implementation of ISO and ISM procedures on vessels from 1986-1995. The achievement of his sailing carrier was as the chief officer of the worlds largest Tanker the Jahre Viking. As a claims handler Olav has handled complex claim matters and as a marine surveyor has conducted numerous P&I surveys, break bulk surveys, oil & gas quantity and quality, container surveys on behalf of Owners, Charterers and P&I Clubs. He has also been a part of the shipbuilding and shiprepair industry and was involved with various projects and dry-docking of vessels in Singapore, Dubai and Bahrain.

Captain Castellino has more than 20 years experience in marine surveying and is a member of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors.

Independent Owner and Operator Klaus Wermuth established Cargo Care Pty Ltd as a fully registered limited Company in Brisbane Australia in 1993.

Klaus retired in 2009 when the company was acquired by Capt. Olav Castellino.

The Brisbane office has been operated by Ganapathi Pandanda. The Sydney office has been operated by Capt. Malavalli Ramprakash  and Melbourne office by Capt. Harsh Vardhan Kumar and the Port Kembla office by Mr. Glen D'souza.

The Company operates in all states of Australia and carries out various surveys for the P&I Clubs, Ship owners, Charterers, Cargo Shippers and Cargo Receivers. Inspections are carried out of cars, break bulk and associated marine survey requirements.

The principal surveyor of the company is Captain Olav Castellino who has 36 Years experience in the shipping industry and has sailed in various ascending capacities at sea including master.

Capt. MALAVALLI RAMPRAKASH

Captain Ramprakash joined Cargo Care in 2004 and has been carrying out various surveys including P&I surveys for the past three years.

Having done pre-sea training on 'T.S. Rajendra' pre sea institution, completed apprenticeship with SCI Ltd. Capt. Ramprakash has experience on various types of vessels including general cargo, bulk, crude oil tankers, product tankers, containers, multi-purpose vessels, research vessels, passenger ships, ro-ro ships and car carriers.

He sailed with BSM Ltd and Wilhelmsen for the last 16 years, gained command in 1996. Since being promoted to Master he sailed exclusively on car carriers. Having sailed on NYK vessels for seven years, and worked at the NYK Head office in Tokyo on a couple of occasions as Master interacting with the Chartering Division and Cargo Safety Operations Division.

Capt. Ramprakash has 12 years experience in marine surveying and is a member of the Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors. Capt. Ramprakash is currently working with Cargo Care Pty Ltd in Port Botany and Port Kembla .
Mr. VIKRAM MALHOTRA

Vikram has worked for the regulatory authorities in NSW and SA since 2002 in the domestic commercial vessel field as a surveyor, engineering examiner, team leader and National System expert. He has been involved in new building inspections, repair inspections, pressure vessel surveys, incident investigations, SMS audits and surveys of various types of vessels, development of Standards and implementation of the National System.

After graduating from DMET Calcutta, Vikram started his seagoing career with Great Eastern Shipping Company before moving on to Barber Ship Management (now Wilhelmsen Ship Management). He has experience on oil tankers including ULCC, bulk carriers, ro-ro ships and car carriers. After becoming a chief engineer, he sailed exclusively on car carriers and ro-ro ships.

Vikram has 12 years of experience in regulatory marine surveys with pressure vessel inspector certification and is a member of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors.
Capt. GANAPATHI PANDANDA

Ganapathi is a qualified Master mariner and brings with him over 12 years of experience in the shipping industry, starting his career as a cadet with Anglo Eastern and raising through the ranks to Chief Officer and gaining a Masters license for Foreign Going Merchant Vessels.

As an officer, he has sailed on refrigerated LPG and LNG carriers, and honed his skills in handling hazardous & dangerous cargo , tanker vetting inspections , and accident investigations.
Ganapathi  is trained in occupational & behaviour based safety, Interpersonal skills & Conflict management and Risk management.

His passion for the marine industry, determination on achieving success, commitment to providing high quality service and ability to perform his best in times of pressure and otherwise makes Ganapathi an excellent marine professional.

Ganapathi holds a bachelor's degree in Nautical Technology from the University of Mumbai , a Masters Licence for unlimited Foreign Going Merchant Ships and a Certificate of Recognition for Masters Licence , Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
Capt. HARSH VARDHAN KUMAR

Capt. Harshvardhan Kumar joined Cargo Care in 2015 and currently operates the Melbourne Office.

He began his sea career in 1980. After rising through various onboard ranks, he was promoted to the rank of Master in 1997 by Acomarit (UK), Glasgow on their fleet of bulk carriers owned by Cargill International SA. Geneva. In 2000, he joined Mitsui OSK lines, Tokyo on their fleet of large bulk carriers. During his sea career, he has dealt with many different scenarios at sea and has been commended on many occasions by the owners.

During his leave periods ashore, he took up short teaching assignments with Applied Research International, one of the premier maritime academies in New Delhi. India. These included designing courses and course content as also teaching pre and post sea students various maritime and management subjects. He has also conducted navigation simulator exercises for senior ranks. He was actively involved in the pre delivery inspection and sea trials of a panamax bulk carrier managed by Acomarit (UK), from a Japanese shipyard.  He was actively involved in the inculcation and implementation of various safety and management systems on board various vessels.

He has been working as a marine surveyor for over five years in Melbourne and various ports around Australia and New Zealand. He is in charge of our Melbourne office and has varied experience in Marine Surveying, including cargo and container damages, Pre-purchase inspections, On hire/Off hire surveys, advisory surveys for grain loading including calculations for complying with AMSA grain criteria, vehicle inspections,  pre-loading break bulk surveys, bunker surveys, draft surveys and developing structures for, and carrying out Navigation Audits and Pre-PSC advisory inspections among others. He is also an accredited grain surveyor.

He is a member of the Australasian Institute of Marine Surveyors and is an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute, London.
Mr. GLEN OWEN D'SOUZA

Glen Owen D'Souza is a Maritime industry professional with over 30 years' experience in various sea going and land based roles.

His seagoing Career started in 1984 when he was employed as a  Marine Radio Communications and Electronics Officer by World Wide Shipping Co. Ltd. Hong Kong, and served on various bulk and tanker vessels. With the radio skills mastered, he then moved on and became a deck office on various bulk vessels operated by Chellaram Shipping Co., Ltd in Hong Kong.

In 2006 Glen moved to Australia and took a shore job with Maersk Line in Sydney as the National Vessel Operations and Vessel Stowage Planner. In this role his duties and responsibilities were to develop and implement container stowage plans for company feeder service vessels, ensuring the stowage plan has reserves of stability for safe passage of Vessel to the next port with Safety of Vessel, Crew and Cargo given paramount importance.

Ensure stability and stresses of the vessel  meets with Masters requirements, attending  vessel and terminals during the loading of dangerous and out of gauge cargo. He liaised with all Australian terminals for berthing company vessels, Measured and reported on Terminal Berth productivity and Port Idle time and was the focal point for accepting Hazardous and Break Bulk Bookings.

In 2011 he  returned to the sea and worked with CSL and Inco Shipping Pvt.Ltd and undertook Independent Navigational watches at sea and in port, the procuring and maintenance of all on board Fire fighting and Safety equipment as per SOLAS and National and International regulations. He took charge for ensuring Ship Oil Pollution Equipment Plan and Equipment (SOPEP)  are in place during Vessels Bunkering operations.

Glen then became the assistant Manager, for a Floating Offshore Transfer Barge and was in charge of securing Barge to Bulk carrier Vessels and efficiently loading Iron Ore into the  vessel holds, the Management of  Barge Cargo Control Room operations, barge, tugs and Vessel movements. He also was the key in preparing and maintaining transhipment records, and the of procuring and maintenance of all on board Fire Fighting and Safety equipment as per SOLAS  and International and National  regulations.

Glen then came ashore and is a valued member of the Cargo Care team.
